William & Mary TribeCyber wins CyberForge 2025 Capture the Flag (CTF) Competition
CyberForge 2025 was a two-day Cybersecurity Conference hosted by Christopher Newport College from March 22-23rd and culminated in an intercollege cybersecurity capture the flag (CTF) competition. The conference was hosted by the Coastal Virginia Cybersecurity Student Association and the CTF was sponsored by Deloitte (https://cyberforge.cvcsa-cyber.org/archives/cyberforge-2025 ).
The CTF was a cyber skills challenge where teams competed to earn points in progressively difficult cyber challenges. With over 40 teams in the running from colleges and universities throughout Virginia, William & Mary’s TribeCyber Team of undergraduates earned the championship title with a first-place finish, thanks to the technical skills and synchronized teamwork of the four-member team: Lily Gloudemans, Nicolas Janis, Walker Knapp, and Zachary Boden.
Finishing with impressive scores in second and third place were Virginia Tech and George Mason University (https://covacci.org/cova-cci-news/cyberforge-2025/).
“I’m so excited to see these students perform at the highest-level and showcase their skills to key cybersecurity organizations and stakeholder in Virginia. With the security challenges we face with a growing number of malicious cyber actors, the next generation of cyber talent from William & Mary is clearly demonstrating that they are prepared for the challenge.” - Matthew A.
