City Research Scholars internships
Interested in research with social impact?
City Research Scholar internships offer students contemplating a career in the nonprofit or public policy sectors a unique opportunity to work alongside professionals who are making a profound social impact in the region. Internships may include applied learning experiences in the areas of program development, data collection and analysis, community engagement, or nonprofit management and leadership. Interns receive $5,000 to complete ten full-time weeks of intern and research activities.

Fellowship internships in Journalism
Thinking about a career in print journalism, digital media, radio, television, photojournalism, or mixed media?
We offer several paid internships with Norfolk-based Virginia Media, covering stories from Williamsburg to Virginia Beach. Interns will have opportunities to gain skills in reporting, audience engagement, and/or videography/photography.
Students will be assigned an editor and a beat to cover as part of a team of reporters. They will also join in team meetings and have access to training sessions facilitated by award-winning reporters and editors from the Daily Press, Virginian-Pilot, and other outlets belonging to Virginia Media. Interns receive $5,000 to complete internships of ten full-time weeks.

Woody Internships in Early Childhood Music Education
Interested in music education?
In this internship, continuing undergraduate students receive training and mentorship in early childhood music education and hands-on opportunities during the academic year to put those skills to use in local public school classrooms!
Students receive training and certification in the Musikgarten method, close mentorship by staff of Williamsburg's Early Childhood Music School, and a $1,000 stipend per semester. This opportunity is open to current juniors, sophomores, and first-year students who anticipate flexibility in their weekday morning schedules to accommodate travel to/from local elementary schools.
